Questions asked by David Rendel MP at a hearing of the Public Accounts Committee have revealed that the new Wembley Stadium is only expected to be used for athletics twice in the next 20 years.
This is despite the fact that the Government has gone to great lengths to ensure that the Stadium is available for dual use.
Mr Rendel said:
"This is an extraordinary revelation. If Wembley is to see only two athletics events over the next two decades, then serious questions need to be asked about whether public time and resources have been wasted."
Note: The hearing also revealed that whenever an athletics event takes place, the stadium will not be able to be used for other events for as long as five months.
