"Motorists will benefit from improvements in local cycle networks", says West Berkshire MP, David Rendel, who is also a Vice-Chair of the All Party Parliamentary Cycling Group.
Mr Rendel's comment followed his recent presentation to Liberal Democrat run West Berkshire Council of the national award for "the most improved highway authority in England at implementing measures to increase cycling".
Mr Rendel said:
"I was delighted to be able to present West Berkshire Council with the award for the progress they have already made to encourage cycling. Such progress is a win-win situation, as it encourages motorists to switch some of their journeys to bikes, which also benefits other motorists.
"Motorists who need to commute into our towns will benefit from less congestion and more parking spaces. Those who choose to cycle will benefit from improved health. The environment will also benefit. I hope the Council will continue to champion positive policies to help to encourage cycling."
