New Blood for Local Liberal Democrats

November 29, 2006 1:42 PM

Newbury Liberal Democrats elected a whole new set of senior officers for the local party at their AGM last Friday. Welcoming the new Executive, David Rendel, Newbury's Liberal Democrat Parliamentary Spokesperson, said,

"At the party's South Central Regional conference earlier this month, we heard that the Newbury local party had achieved the largest increase in membership of any of the top tier local parties in the region. To go with this big membership increase, we now have a new executive committee to run the Liberal Democrats in West Berkshire.

"This will be a crucial year for the party with the whole of West Berkshire Council up for election, along with Newbury and Thatcham Town Councils. We have been very well served by the retiring officers of the local party, but it is good for any organization to get in some new blood from time to time. I am very confident that the new team will prove a professional and very effective campaigning unit."
