President Peer Predicts Prodigious Progress

February 8, 2010 5:00 PM

Baroness Ros ScottBaroness Ros Scott, national President of the Liberal Democrat Party, was the guest of honour at a very successful spring dinner of the Newbury constituency Liberal Democrats last Friday evening.

The dinner, held in the Thatcham Memorial Hall, heard from Baroness Scott that the party was confidently predicting a big increase in the number of Liberal Democrat MPs following the General Election. She said that she expected the party to gain seats both from the Conservatives and from Labour.

As President of the Party, Baroness Scott chairs the party's Federal Executive. Newbury's Parliamentary Candidate, David Rendel, is an elected member of the Federal Executive. "I have worked closely with your parliamentary candidate, David Rendel, particularly on our Federal Executive over the last two years," she said. "He is someone the country desperately needs back in the House of Commons. Please do everything you can to ensure he gets there."

Attendance at the dinner was the largest anyone could remember. Extra tables had to be brought out at the last minute, as many more diners turned up than had been expected.
