Thank you

Thank you for visiting my website and, if you one of the 23,311 people in Newbury who voted for me on May 5, 2005, thank you very much indeed for your support.

As you may know, I was the Liberal Democrat MP for Newbury from 1993 until May 2005. This site records much of my local activity since it was launched in January 2003.

You can get detailed information about my record in Parliament since 1997 at http://www.theyworkforyou.com/mp/david_rendel/newbury

As a local resident in the Newbury constituency and a Liberal Democrat campaigner on local and national issues, I remain very interested in your views. Please email me at david@davidrendel.org.uk or write to me using the contact details listed on the 'Contact Information' page.

If you have any suggestions of other information you would like to see on my website, please do get in touch - I look forward to hearing from you.

By-Election Shows Tories Sliding Further

Tue 15th Apr 2008

A massive effort by the Conservatives to regain Thatcham North in last Thursday's Thatcham Town Council by-election came to nothing as the Liberal Democrats more than doubled their majority from 98 to 240. The seat had been lost by the Conservatives to their Liberal Democrat opponents in another by-election on January 10th. But the result of this by-election (which was called by the Conservatives) exactly three months later was an even bigger win for Liberal Democrat, Glyn Slater, by 831 votes to 591. As usual there was no Labour candidate.

Tue 18th Mar 2008

"Losing your job is always traumatic, and I have every sympathy for the 450 Vodafone employees who are about to lose theirs", commented David Rendel, Liberal Democrat Parliamentary Spokesperson for Newbury.
