Rendel Backed As Prospective Candidate

Newbury Liberal Democrats have unanimously re-adopted David Rendel as their prospective candidate for the next General Election.

Mr Rendel, who has been Newbury's MP for 10 years, was re-selected at the Annual General Meeting of Newbury Liberal Democrats.

Constituency Chair, Nick Winch, said:

"This vote was open to all Liberal Democrat members in the Newbury Constituency. This is in contrast to the Conservatives who have not given their membership a say in either choosing the party leader or their general election candidate."

David Rendel MP said:

"It has been a great honour and a privilege to serve my constituents over the last 10 years but it has also been a job that I've very much enjoyed doing, so I'm delighted to have been given this clear vote of confidence by party members in Newbury."
