NEW CINEMA WILL BE SELF-FINANCING, THANKS TO COUNCIL PLAN

1.08.26pm UTC (GMT +0000) Thu 3rd Feb 2005

Local Liberal Democrats are celebrating after the Council finalised a plan that will bring a cinema back to West Berkshire - at no extra cost to the local taxpayer.

The new cinema will be funded from extra car parking revenues, meaning that the scheme will be self-financing in the long term.

David Rendel MP said:

"I am delighted at this news.

"Opponents of this cinema, who claimed that the taxpayer would end up supporting the project, have been proved wrong.

"The negativity and opportunism of the Conservatives have been trumped by the hard work of the Council and local campaigners, who have delivered both a cinema and value for money for residents."
